Why is religious freedom important?

I was waiting to see how the U.S. presidential election played out before working on the next episode of the Polytheism Today podcast. With a Trump victory and Project 2025 looming over our heads (and the privileged place it gives to Christian Nationalism), many of us are grieving and worried about what will happen to our loved ones, our communities, and those already vulnerable and marginalized.

In the next episode, which is scheduled to be released on November 24, I want to explore why religious freedom is essential, especially to minority religions — but I want to look at this question not as an abstraction but in the details and stories of our lived experiences.
